Workshop

The workshop consists in five meetings, long six hours each, for a total of 30 hours. The activities of the workshop comprise the examination of audiovisuals, the realization of artifacts (eventual costumes and/or objects to use in the performance) and propaganda material, the logistic organization of the event and the documentation of itself through this blog, sketches, coaches, photos, videos and a paper document, a journal that at the end of the course collects all this material.

Il workshop consiste in cinque incontri da sei ore l’uno per un totale di 30 ore. Le attività del workshop comprendono la visione di materiale audiovisivo, la realizzazione di manufatti (eventuali costumi e/o oggetti da utilizzare nella performance) e materiale divulgativo, l’organizzazione logistica dell’evento e la documentazione dello stesso attraverso questo blog, bozzetti preparatori, fotografie, video e un documento cartaceo, un giornale che raccoglie tutto questo materiale alla fine del corso.

1st. MEETING. Monday 16 February 2009, 10AM-5PM: explanation of the reasons and aims of the course; brief history and theory of performance art and temporary public art; examination of audiovisuals; discussion about the goals of the course; considerations of conceptual nature about the inclusion of a workshop about performance art inside a program of studies in Design.

1° INCONTRO. Lunedì 16 Febbraio 2009, ore 10.00-17.00: spiegazione delle ragioni ed obiettivi del corso; brevi cenni sulla storia e teoria della performance art e dell’arte temporanea in luoghi pubblici; esame di materiale audiovisivo; discussione sugli obiettivi finali del corso; considerazioni di natura concettuale sull’inclusione di un workshop sulla performance art all’interno di un programma di studi in Design.

2nd. MEETING. Tuesday 17 February 2009, 10AM-5PM: considerations of practical nature on the organization of a public performance event; realization of preparatory draughts (texts, sketches, maps); organization on plan of the performance; making of a poster to publicize the event and diffusion of it troughout the campus.

2° INCONTRO. Martedì 17 Febbraio 2009, ore 10.00-17.00: considerazioni di natura pratica sull’organizzazione di un evento performativo pubblico; realizzazione di bozzetti preparatori (testi, schizzi, mappe); organizzazione su pianta della performance; realizzazione di un poster per pubblicizzare l’evento e diffusione dello stesso nel campus.

3rd. MEETING. Wednesday 18 February 2009, 10AM-5PM: logistic design of the performance; preparation of the materials needed during the performance; considerations about the set; writing of the script; rehearsals; thoughts about the communication value of the event; discussion on the meaning and value of relational art.

3° INCONTRO. Mercoledì 18 Febbraio 2009, ore 10.00-17.00: progettazione logistica della performance; preparazione del materiale della performance; considerazioni di natura scenografica; scrittura della sceneggiatura; prove generali; riflessioni sul valore comunicativo dell’evento; discussione sul significato e valore dell’arte relazionale.

4th. MEETING. Thursday 19 February 2009, 10AM-5PM: final rehearsals; making of the performance; considerations about the results of the performance; collection, selection and editing of documentary materials (texts, drawings, maps, photos and videos); considerations of technical and conceptual nature about the making of a paper document which collects different kind of documentary materials.

4° INCONTRO. Giovedì 19 Febbraio 2009, ore 10.00-17.00: prove definitive; realizzazione della performance; considerazioni sulla riuscita o meno della performance; raccolta, selezione ed editing del materiale documentario; considerazioni di natura tecnica e concettuale sulla costruzione di un documento cartaceo che raccolga materiale documentario di natura diversa.

5th. MEETING. Friday 20 February 2009, 10AM-5PM: making of a xerox journal following the model of fanzines and self-produced books; final thoughts about the whole project through video interviews; editing of the videos collected; discussion on the strategies to widespread the project after the end of the workshop throughout real networks and the Internet; basic discussion of the chance of making an art collective and organize performances in the future outside the program of studies.

5° INCONTRO. Venerdì 20 Febbraio 2009, ore 10.00-17.00: realizzazione del documento finale attraverso fotocopie su modello di fanzine e libri autoprodotti; considerazioni finali sulla realizzazione del progetto raccolte in video interviste; montaggio del materiale video raccolto; discussione sulle strategie per la divulgazione del progetto dopo la fine del workshop attraverso network reali e Internet; discussioni di base sulla possibilità di formare un collettivo artistico e realizzare alter performance in futuro al di fuori del programma di studi.
